• yeast respires anaerobically - Glucose-2 ethanol plus 2 carbon dioxides
• reproduction is asexual and is called budding
• the nucleus divides by mitosis - one of the daughter nuclei moves into the bus which in some cases detaches from the parent cell - in some cases the bud doesn't detach from the parent cell but stays attached and goes on to produce another bud and so on - in this way colonies are formed
