  • Power grip:
    • Object grasped between fingers and palm while thumb applies counter pressure
  • Power Grip:

    • Fingers flexed around object
    • Grip reinforced by pressing thumb into object
  • Power Grip - Muscles work isometrically to hold object:
    • Lumbricals and long flexors hold metacarpophalangeal joints in flexion
    • FDS and FDP hold proximal interphalangeal joints and dorsal interphalangeal joints in flexion
    • FPL and the other muscles of the thenar eminence hold thumb in position
