  • disruptive mood dysregulation disorder - Chronic, severe, and persistent irritability. 
    • Frequent temper outbursts that are grossly out of proportion in intensity or duration to the situation or provocation.
    • persistently irritable or angry most of the day, nearly every day, and is observable by others

  • Persistent Depressive Disorder
    • Depressed mood for most of the day, for more days than not, as indicated by either subjective account or observation by others
    • for "at least 2 years".
    • also known as dysthymia
    • chronic, persistent low-level depression
  • major depressive disorder
    • Five (or more) of the nine symptoms have been present during the same 2-week period and
    • represent a change from previous functioning: at least one of the symptoms is either (1) depressed mood or (2) loss of interest or pleasure.
    • episodic
    • With a gap of at least 2 months between them.
