How does the cardiovascular system works?

Cards (11)

    1. The heart's right ventricle (bottom right pumping chamber) sends blood that's low in oxygen (oxygen-poor blood) to the lungs through the pulmonary arteries. Blood travels through the pulmobary trunk (the main pulmonary artery)
  • 2) Blood cells pick up oxygen in the lungs
  • 3) Pulmonary veins carry the oxygenated blood from the lungs to heart's left atrium
  • 4) The left atrium send the oxygenated blood into the left ventricle. This muscular part of the heart pumps blood out to the body through the arteries
  • 5) As it moves through the body and organs through the artieries , blood collects and drop off nutrients , hormones , waste products
  • 6) The blood cells carry , through the veins , oxygen-poor blood and carbon dioxide back to the heart's right atrium , which will send the blood to the heart's right ventricle , which will send blood to the lungs
  • 7) The lungs get rid of carbon dioxide and transfer oxygen to the blood (exchange) when you breath (exhaleCO2 and inhale O2)
  • The circulatory system has three circuit , in which blood will circulate , it will circulate through the heart and through these circuits in a continuous pattern
  • Pulmonary circuit : This circuit carry blood with poor oxygen from the heart to the lungs. The pulmonary veins return oxygenated blood to the heart
  • Systemic circuit : Blood with oxygenated blood , nutrient , hormones , amino acids travel from the heart to the rest of the body. During this travel , blood picks up waste products as the body uses up nutrient and oxygen
  • Coronary circuit : Refers to the heart's arteries . This circuit provides the body with oxygenated blood . It then return oxygen-poor blood to the right atrium to send to the lungs for an exchange between carbon dioxide and oxygen
