sampling evaluation

Cards (4)

  • random sampling: strength and weakness

    strength: no researcher bias
weakness: the sample won't necessarily be representative-you could randomly select people who are very similar.
  • systematic sampling: strength and weakness

strength: quick and easy to produce a sample
    weakness: no necessarily representative
  • stratified sampling: strength and weakness

strength: should both be representative and unbiased
weakness: more time consuming than random or systematic sampling
  • quota sampling: strength and weakness

strength: can be used on groups who may otherwise be impossible to get access to.
weakness: researchers need to have existing relationship to create the sample.
