• Wolsey organised an army for Henry in 1512 against France

• wolseys appointment as royal almoner in 1509 made him a member of the royal council, giving him direct access to the king. it gave him the chance to exert influence over henry and dominate government by 1515. through the role of almoner he was able to showcase his persuasive personality
• wolsey was willing to do henrys day to day tasks that were important in government.
• following the expedition to france, wolsey became lord chancellor in 1515, giving him top position in government
