  • What is interference
    An explanation of forgetting in terms of one memory disrupting the ability to recall another. This is most likely to occur when the two memories have some similarities. There are two memories competing.
  • What is retroactive interference? (Backwards)
    When a new memory interferes (displaces) with an old memory. E.g researcher names interfering with other topics
  • What is proactive interference? (Forwards) 

    This is when old memories interfere (replaced) with new memories e.g. seating plan and sit in old seat
