Phenotype and Genotype

Cards (4)

  • Genotype- the genetic makeup of an organism, including the alleles it carries
  • Phenotype- the expression of the genetic makeup of an individual which can be influenced by the environment
  • Nature vs Nurture debate- the idea that behaviour and characteristics are influenced by both nature (genetics, inherited traits) and nurture (environmental factors, experiences)
  • Case studies can be used to compare those of the same genotype/ phenotype, and see if they show similar behaviours, and determine why they might not.
