ONUS VS STANDARD

• The onus of proof is the determining of which party has the burden to demonstrate and provide evidence for their case - generally against the prosecution
• The standard of proof provides a benchmark that the evidence presented must meet, in most cases "beyond a reasonable doubt"
• Onus of proof refers to the duty of the prosecution to successfully prove the accused's guilt in order to produce a guilty verdict
