  This lack of biological detail makes the Inspector seem less like a person and a character that we might get drawn into that we may like or dislike and more like a moral force, one which mercilessly pursues the wrongs committed by the Birling's and Gerald.
• "Community and all that nonsense" (speech)

  The "sharp ring of a door bell" being introduced right as Mr Birling is associating his capitalistic views as well as his dismissal of community, almost suggests that he in fact summoned Inspector Goole. Awfully ironic.

  
  

  As Mr Birling is cut-off during his speech, this foreshadows the imminent clash between the two characters who each respectively symbolise their own ideologies.
• "Unsinkable, absolutely unsinkable"


  (1) Dramatic irony, the Titanic did in fact sink on the 15th of Apr 1912, killing almost 1500 people.
