  • 'land uses' refers to what people use an area of land for
  • a land use conflict is a disagreement between two or more groups of the people who use an area of the land for different purposes.
  • footpath erosion is a conflict because it is an eyesore. also because it creates uneven land and it can create channels for rainwater which can soften the ground making it hard to water and can causing flooding.
  • litter is a conflict because if the sheep were to eat the litter they could choke on it this causes distress for the sheep and could result in the sheep dying. this could result in the farmer losing profit.
  • hikers letting their dogs off the lead can cause sheep worrying which can cause the sheep to miscarry and lead to vat bills for the farmer.
  • hikers leaving gates open can lead to the sheep not being where the farmer would like them to be. the sheep could be on the road that could lead to there being traffic or accidents.
  • a solution to littering is removing bins and encouraging people to take their rubbish home (so do signs)
  • a solution to sheep worrying is signs that encourage people to keep their dogs on leading during lambing time.
  • a solution to footpath erosion is pitched paving
  • a solution to people leaving gates open is kissing gates which are designed to allow people to pass through, but not sheep
  • speed boats and paddle boarders conflict because speed boats create waves which can unsteady the paddle boarders to fall
  • a solution to speed boats was to create a 10 or 6 nautical mph speed limit on windermere.
