    • Nature is the view of innate biological or genetic factors that influence behaviour. eg. eye colour
    • Heredity is the process of which traits are passed on from generations
    • Nativist (extreme nature view)- A person who believes that a person's personality is determined by their genes
    • Empiricism (extreme nurture view) - the idea that all behaviour is learned through experience
    • Nurture refers to external or environmental factors that affect behaviour eg. childhood upbringing
    • Interactionist approach - the view that both nature and nurture work together to shape behaviour
      • eg. PKU genetic disorder - inherited from two recessive genes from each parent meaning they cant break down amino acids --> mental retardation, however if detected early they can be placed in a low protein diet for 12years to recover
