  • 1485: The Battle of Bosworth. Richard III defeated, Henry VII successful, the Tudor dynasty begins.

  • March 1489: Treaty of Medina Del Campo was signed with Spain, establishing a closer co-operation between Spain and England. This also included the marriage contract between Arthur, Prince of Wales, and Princess Catherine of Aragon.
  • April 1489: Yorkshire rebellion caused by Henry's attempt to raise extra money to pay for his wars in Brittany.
  • 1492: The Treaty of Etaples ended the Breton Crisis. Henry VII's army left France on payment of 745, 000 crowns from the French.
  • 1496: The Intercursus MAGNUS allowed free trade by English merchants with all parts of Burgundy.
  • Spring 1497: Cornish rebellion caused by Henry VII's attemptes to raise extra taxes. This led to an army of rebels marching as far as Blackheath in London.
  • August 1497: Having failed to gather internation support, the pretender Perkin Warbeck finally surrendered to Henry VII.
  • 1497: The Italian adventurer, John Cabot, sponsored by Henry VII, reached Newfoundland in North America and claimed it for England.
  • 1502: Tragedy!! Death of Prince Arthur.
  • 1503: Even more tragedy!!! Death of Queen Elizabeth.
  • 1508: League of Cambrai - major European powers against Venice formed. England was left out of this, on the sidelines.
  • 1509: Death of Henry VII.
  • In 1487: the total amount of revenue from wardships was around £350. By 1507, it was around £6000 a year.
