B7 communicable & non communicable diseases

• Communicable diseases are spread from person to person and spread by pathogens such as bacteria or viruses
• Pathogens are microorganisms that cause infectious disease e.g viruses, bacteria, protists or fungi
• Pathogens can infect plants and animals and can be spread by direct contact, by water or by air
• Non-communicable diseases are not caused by pathogens but instead by lifestyle factors like smoking, poor diet and lack of exercise
• Health is the state of physical and mental wellbeing
• Bacteria and viruses reproduce inside the body rapidly and produce toxins that damaged tissues making us feel ill
• Viruses are NOT living as they live and reproduce inside cells causing cell damage
