His story

• Rome's 5th king came from Tarquinii
• He married a noble woman. But all the other nobles of Tarquinii looked down on him, because his father was an immigrant and the couple decided to move to Rome
• On his journey to Rome, an egal swooped down and stole Lucius' hat. He interpreted this as he would become king of Rome
• Lucius fought for ROme in battles and used his weath to hold parties to make himself popular with the senatorial class
• He became so friendly with the King that Ancus made him the guardian of his sons.
• Lucius sent Ancus' sons on a hunting expedition a few days before the election.
• Lucius is said to be the first man to canvas personally for votes and to have delivered a public speech designed to win popular support.
