• Jews are divided over the right for an abortion. Some Jews are completely against it due to the sanctity of life, imago dei, thou shall not kill and the Talmud which teaches "Anyone who destroys a life is as if they destroyed an entire world"
• Some Jews allow abortion is the women's health is at risk or she has been raped
• The Halakhah teaches that the foetus is part of the women's body which suggests that is is her right
• Views may differ

  Pro-choice: it is up to the woman to decide whether it is right for her to have an abortion because it is her body

  Pro-life: abortion is wrong but exceptions may be made to save the mother's life
