Millennium development goals (MDGs) are eight international goals by the United Nations to meet the need's of the world's less fortunate. They were set in 2000 to be achieved by 2015

MDG Goal 5: improve maternal health
MDG Goal 6: Combat HIV, Malaria, and other diseases

Some gaps after the MDGs include gender inequality, gaps between the poorest and the richest, the disproportionate impact of climate change on people living in poverty, and the millions of people still living in poverty and hunger
