    Skill acquisition - The therapist teaches skills to help manage anger in anger-inducing situations

    Application practise - The therapist and the offender practise using the newly-learned skills in situations that may require them

    - Ireland (2004) compared anger levels of 50 prisoners who underwent anger management therapy with a control group of 37 prisoners who didn't. In the anger management group, mean anger ratings fell from 42.7 before therapy to 27.3 after therapy. In the control group, mean anger ratings did not change significantly

    Only useful for offenders who's crimes were the result of anger
