  • One devolved matter to the Scottish Government is health. The Scottish Government has responsibility for the NHS in Scotland to ensure all people have easy access to healthcare and treatment through different services. For example, past prime minister Nicola Sturgeon led the Scottish Government through the Covid-19 pandemic and set up a specialised hospital (the Louisa Jordan Hospital) in Glasgow.
  • Another devolved matter is education. The Scottish Government has the responsibility of making sure that the system in Scotland is running well and good quality education is being provided through nurseries, schools and universities. For example, the Scottish Government gave all students in Scotland some form of computer equipment e.g laptops and ipads.
  • A final devolved matter is law & order. The Scottish Government has responsibility for maintaining peace and safety in Scotland through the police service, the courts and the prisons. For example, the Scottish Government runs the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
