• why a location is suitable for a wind farm

  Altitude- The land of this point has a high altitude. The higher the land is the stronger the winds are this is useful for winter turbines. So therefore they need to be located in Upland areas. The land is also like this is great for winter turbines as the blades are big.
• 2. significant distance from the town ; houses etc. This location is suitable since it‘s remote from the main town.This is beneficial as it won’t pollute the environment with noise because of the distance from the wind farm to the town/place with buildings so noise pollution won’t be an issue
• Why did dungarvan develop at this location.

  • Norman settlement; the Normans settled here around the 12 century features of Norman settlements are evident in the town castles. Demote is also a feature of Norman statement as it is used for defence in situations of attack.
  • near a river : it is near the colligan river, this is beneficial for transport reasons as large vessels can be transported via the river. The water from the river is also beneficial as it provides rich soil for farming.
