Climate change

Cards (6)

  • Impacts of climate change
    • Extreme weather events -heat waves and wildfires have increased in the last few years. In June 2020 was the highest temperature recorded was 47°C in 2022 California experience battle wildfires that caused a huge amount of destruction.
    • Sea levels are rising - The rising sea levels due to the melting of ice carport flood coastal areas. The rise of sea levels also increases the chance of land erosion and flooding.
  • Greenhouse house effect can be reduced - renewable sources of energy and electric cars.
  • The green house effect.
    • greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels.
    • The Sun heats up the Earth.
    • naturally we have this atmosphere that’s like a blanket.
    • The burning of fossil fuels produces CO2 the amount of CO2 has increased.
    • as the amount of CO2 increases the atmosphere becomes ticker so gases get trapped - resulting in an increase in the average temperature
  • Diagram of the green house effects
  • Effects of acid rain - Acid rain is a consequence of the use of non-renewable energy sources.
    • Acid rain weakens trees, damages leaves, limits the levels of nutrients available to them or poisons them slowly with toxic substances released by the soil.
    • Acid rain damages buildings and structures because it dissolves the exposed stone or rusts the metal.
  • Reduce acid Rain.
    • reduce your dependency on fossil fuels that emits sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide
    • use renewable sources of energy.
