Germany's traditional cultural values and class divisions seemed under threat during the FRG period. The FRG became more affected by the influences of Western Europe and the USA, most likely due to the presence of occupying powers and as the FRG became more cosmopolitan.
US influences were particularly persuasive, as seen in the 1950s with the adoption of blue jeans, chewing gum, rock 'n' roll and Coca-Cola.
