  • Agape
    Selfless, unconditional love. Christianity teaches this is the highest type of love shown through the love Jesus showed through his sacrifice on the cross.
  • Atonement
    The belief that the death and resurrection of Jesus healed the rift between humans and God meaning they can be united again.
  • Divine Command
    The belief that something is right because God commands it. For example, ‘murder is wrong’ because God said it was in the 10 Commandments.
  • Holy Spirit
    One of the three parts of the Holy Trinity. Jesus promised to send the Holy spirit after his crucifixion and resurrection and is seen through God's acting within the world.
  • Incarnation
    Means ‘made flesh’. It is the Christian belief that God became man through the person of Jesus (fully human and fully divine).
  • Interfaith Dialogue

    Different faith groups and communities coming together and working together. They can open discussions and live peacefully together.
  • Messiah
    A word meaning ‘the anointed one’ and is believed to be the person chosen and sent by God to be the Saviour. This person is understood to be Jesus.
  • Omnibenevolence
    The idea of being all good and all-loving. This is a term used to describe God.
  • Omnipotence
     
    The idea of being all-powerful and almighty. This is a term used to describe God.
  • Omniscience
    The idea of God being all-knowing and all-seeing.
  • Ressurection
    The belief that Jesus rose from the dead and overcame death. It is marked through celebrations on Easter Sunday.
  • Trinity
    The idea that the Christian God can be understood as three distinct parts - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
