  • Career is defined as a profession for which one is trained and undertaken as a permanent calling (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).One’s  career is not just one-shot deal.
  • Trait refers to the unique characteristics of a person

  • Parson states that a wise vocation choice requires understanding of the self-attitudes, abilities, interests, ambitions, resources, and limitations.
  • A goal is an end towards which one’s efforts are all directed. Life goals provide direction and meaning to why one wakes up in the morning and continue living
  • Personality is individually unique, consistent pattern of behavioral and psychological attributes that endure over time and across situations (Smith,1998)
  • Physical aspect refers to the physical features of a person such as height, color of the eyes skin, hair, the way one carries himself or herself and the entire physical appearance of the person.
  • Mental aspect refers to the manner of talking , and the range and depth of ideas shared by the person.
  • Emotional aspect refers to the person’s propensities and expressions, his or her like and dislikes, including his or her unique responses to emotional situations.
  • Social aspect - This aspect of personality refers to how one conducts himself or herself with other people. Socialization is an art and there are varied approaches that one can take when interacting with others.
  • Spiritual aspect - This aspect of personality refers to the acknowledgement of higher values in life. One’s religious beliefs exemplify this.
  • Moral aspect - The aspect of the person that acknowledges what is right and wrong in certain situations. Morality serves as a compass that guides decision-making.
  • The family has always been the basic unit of society according to sociology.
  • Nuclear Family - has always been identified as the ideal family. This type consists of two parents or children. This is an ideal setting where the children are raised with a more stable home environment as parents assure their balanced psychological well-being
        and emotional stability.
  • Single-Parent Family - comprises of a solo parent raising the children. The parent can either be a father or a mother who provides financial, emotional and other basic support to the children. Parenting in itself for this type of structure is highly challenging as this may mean nobody shares the responsibility
     and accountability of
     taking care of the
     children.
  • Extended Family – is a structure comprised of two parents, children, aunts, uncle, grand parents or non-relatives together under one roof. For some Filipinos, having an extended family is a product of financial difficulties faced by one more extended members.
  • Step Family – refers to two families being merged together due to marriage of a parent of one family to another. Thus, the new family is comprised of the husband, wife and children from previous marriage or relationship.
  • Grandparent Family - is a type of family structure where grandparents take on the role of parenting and nurturing the children. There can be varied reasons why this happens such as death of the children’s parents, abandonment, or the parents being unfit to provide for
    their children.
  • A genogram is a pictorial display of a person’s family relationships and medical history. It goes beyond a traditional family tree by allowing the user to visualize hereditary patterns and psychological factors that punctuate relationships.
  • The genogram was first used and made popular in the clinical setting by Monica McGoldrick and Randy Gerson.
  • Family Times, a publication of New Mexico University states that the communication is the key to healthy family relationships.
