Collig. Properties

Cards (9)

  • Colligative Properties are properties of solvent that are changed by the presence of a solute.
  • Forming a solution often increases the entropy.
  • Reversible processes eventually reach a state or condition known as equilibrium.
  • Equilibrium is a condition in the course of a reversible reaction at which there is no longer a net change in the amounts of reactants and products.
  • Le Chatelier's Principle: when you put stress on a system at equilibrium (by changing T, P, or concentration) the equilibrium will shift in a direction to overcome that stress.
  • In general, increasing the temp. shifts the reaction in the direction that uses heat, while lowering the temp does the opposite.
  • -G is spontaneous forward
  • +G is spontaneous backwards
  • The larger the Ksp, the more soluble the salt.
