• 'Rough wooing of Scotland' (1544)


  Violent invasion of Scotland in order to break the Auld Alliance and to sign the Treaty of Greenwich by force, Scots kept refusing to sign.

  -> English failed to capture larger cities like Edinburgh and Dunbar, allowed Mary QoS to be saved by the French and married French Dauphin, Francis II
• Battle of Solway Moss (1542)


  Henry VIII asked his nephew James V, to follow England with the break from Rome but he ignored his request. Henry sent some 20,000 troops into Scotland where the Scots retaliated.

  After an embarrasing scottish defeat, James died weeks later, leaving behind his 6-day old daughter, Mary, Queen of Scots.
