    1. on arrival to the clinic, each child was given mental tests by a psychologist to assess their own intelligence using the Binet scale
  • 2) the emotional attitude of the child was also recorded by the psychologist
  • 3) the child's mother was then interviewed by a social worker and details of the child's early psychiactric history was recorded
  • 4) both the psychologist and social worker presented separate reports to Bowlby, who then interviewed the child and mother himself for two hours
  • 5) the team then all met to consider school and other reports and discussed their conclusions
  • 6) many of the children continued to meet with Bowlby over a period of 6 months or more and the mothers discussed any ongoing problems with the social worker.
