EPISODIC · Concerned with personal experiences - This is a type of explicit memory/declarative memory i.e. memories that can be consciously recalled - These memories usually include details of an event, the context (time and place) and emotions associated with the event
SEMANTIC · Shared memories for facts and knowledge - This is a type of explicit memory/ declarative memory · Differs to episodic which is tied to time and place. - Semantic memories generally begin as episodic memories
PROCEDURAL · Memory for how you do things motor skills, actions, muscle memory i.e. riding a bicycle or driving. · These are automatic as a result of practice and repetition - They are implicit/nondeclarative meaning we find them very difficult to explain even if we find the actions easy to perform (unavailable for conscious inspection)
