  • The House of Representatives has 435 members.
  • There are 100 Senators.
  • Senate terms last six years with one-third elected every two years.
  • Members of Congress must be at least 25 to serve in the House and 30 to serve in the Senate.
  • Congressional salaries are set by law.
  • Representative terms last two years (XXVI Amendment).
  • Senate Powers: Hold impeachment trials, advice and consent on presidential appointments, and ratify treaties.
  • House Powers: Initiate all revenue bills (Power of the Purse), initiate impeachments, and elect the President if no candidate wins an Electoral College majority.
