    • The internet is a global network of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide.
  • Internet Protocol: A set of rules that governs how data is sent over the internet.
    • WAN is a network that covers a broad area, often a country or continent, connecting multiple LANs (Local Area Networks) together.
  • PAN: Personal Area Networks are networks of devices that are connected to a central device, such as a router or switch.
  • MAN: Metropolotian Area Network Metropolitan
    a computer network that connects computers within a metropolitan area, which could be a single large city, multiple cities and towns, or any given large area with multiple buildings

  • SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, used to send emails from one server to another
  • FTP: File Transfer Protocol, a protocol used to transfer files between a client and a server.
  • VoIP:Voice over Internet Protocol, a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.
