Poetry- poetry is a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings
Rhyme- this feature contributes to the musical quality of any poem. It has a major effect on the sound and overall effect that the poem can have on the reader
Rhythm- this is the movement of the poem created through the stress of language within the poem. Rhythm is one of the features which make poetry different.
Stanza/Verse- this is a group of lines in a poem typically separated from each other by a blank line. Stanzas help to add structure to a poem. Poems can have several stanzas.
A rhyme scheme is a pattern of rhyme found at the end of a line in poetry. It is the repetition of the same sound at the end of the lines in a poem.

Acrostic Poetry- in this type of poetry the first letter of the first word in each word line is used to form a word when read vertically
Limerick- this is a form of poem with a strict rhyme scheme. A limerick contains 5 lines. Lines 1, 2 and 5 must end with similar rhyming schemes whilst lines 3 and 4 must rhyme with each other
Haiku- a Japanese form of poetry that consists of three lines with a 5-7-5 syllable count
Cainquant-is a poem which consists of 5 lines arranged in a special way

Line2-2 adjectives describing the noun
Line3-3 action verbs ending with ing
Line4-word, phrase or feeling
Line5- a synonym for your noun
Diamante- this poem is used to compare to opposite things. It is made up of seven lines and resembles a diamond shape
