    • Research evidence - ๐™‡๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฎ๐™™ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™‡๐™ž๐™จ๐™๐™ข๐™–๐™ฃ. Participants to recall pleasant/unpleasant experiences, those with low level depression responded faster when recalling pleasant memories that those with deeper depression. This supports the idea that depressed people have automatic thinking.
  • ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ:
    • Not considering biological factors - ๐˜พ๐™ช๐™ž๐™Ÿ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™จ ๐™š๐™ฉ ๐™–๐™ก found that CBT was most effective when combined with drugs. It isnโ€™t as simple as negative thoughts causing depression.
    • Cause and effect - difficult to test whether irrational thinking causes depression. Difficult to distinguish as to whether the irrational thinking is a cause or consequence of depression.
    • Not always irrational - depressed people can have rational thinking. ๐˜ผ๐™ก๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฎ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐˜ผ๐™—๐™ง๐™–๐™๐™ข๐™จ๐™ค๐™ฃ found that depressed people were more accurate in rating the likelihood of a disaster.
