pillar 1 - the Shahadah

• Ibadah - acts of worship; any permissible action performed with the intention to obey God
• Shahadah - the declaration of faith which says 'there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger
• its is the declaration of faith spoken by all Muslims
• must be spoken publicly before a person can be considered a Muslim
• Qur'an states the Shahadah must be "spoken by the tongue and with the full assent of the heart"
• you must believe the words it isn't simply just saying them
• it is the first words whispered to a new born babies ear and the last words a person should hear before they die
• its the first things Muslims should say when they wake up and before they go to bed
