• Trusting Hitler - after every move he did he promised its all he wanted(then went against them)
• Fear of communism - many saw Hitler as the only blockade against communism taking over and supported him because of it
• Memories of the Great war - British/french leaders and populations all remembered the war and gave Hitler what he wanted to avoid another one
• Treaty of versailles - Many felt the treaty had been harsh on Germany and that some of Hitlers demands were reasonable. They thought once he fixed his problems Germany would become a peaceful nation
• Britain could not afford a war - had a large debts and had a huge unemployment rate due to depression
