  • Demand characteristics are when a participant works out the aim of the experiment and changes the behaviour to meet the aim of the experiment and/or please the researcher
  • Investigator effects are when a researcher knowingly or unknowingly demonstrates behaviour which may influence participants behaviour and as a result has an impact on findings
  • Order effects are when taking part in more than one condition causes a participant to change their behaviour for the latter conditions (e.g. boredom/tiredness)
