• Almost every character recognises Brutus's reputation for being an honourable man
• Brutus acted honourably because he killed Caesar for the greater benefit of Rome, not because of his own jealousy
• Brutus decides to kill himself rather than be captured
• Capture would imply weakness and so Brutus's desire to appear strong and preserve his pride leads him to die on his own terms
