Primary groups
Small in size, persist long enough to develop strong emotional attachment between members, long-term, informal and hard to enter/exit
Secondary groups
Bigger in size, members are not bound by emotional ties, usually no face to face, formal in nature, easier to enter and exit and have limited demands
