  • Light microscopes

    Positive: Can observe sub-cellular structures
    Limitation: lower magnification and resolution
  • Electron microscopes

    Use a beam of electrons in a vacuum with a wavelength of less than 1 nm to visualise the specimen.
    Positive: x500,000 magnification, high resolution
    Negative: Destroys the sample
