Conscience

• Using your conscience to understand natural law as Catholics call it.
• Catholics believe the conscience has two parts:

  • Knowledge part - our minds ability to know the difference between right and wrong.
  • Action part - internal impulse to do what is right and avoid doing what is wrong (part that gives moral duty).
• Obey conscience more = less moral evil, less suffering
• Catholics believe the conscience is unique to humans (further proof God created humans imago dei).
