• Salivary Amylase - an enzyme found in saliva; begins the digestion of food
• Stomach - mixes food and gastric juices to form CHYME (mixture of food and gastric juices)
• Small intestine - mixes chyme with digestive juices; absorbs breakdown products
• Large intestine - further breaks down food; absorbs residuals
• Liver - produces BILE (emulsifies lipids)
• Gallbladder - stores, concentrates, and releases bile
• Pancreas - produces digestive enzymes
• Villi & microvilli - increase the small intestine's surface area, improves absorption
• Excretory system - produces waste in the form of urine; excretes waste from the body
• Kidneys - forms urine; regulates blood volume and pH
• TRUE - (true or false) when blood passes through nephrons and is filtered, urine is formed
• Bladder - stores urine
• Urethra - transports urine outside
