  • 'glided in porphyria' - shows he sees her an non-human which suggests that he objectifies her. porphyria is also a disease which he likely new as he had an interest in medicine which creates a recurring theme of sickness caused by desire.
  • 'long yellow string' 'strangled her'- she becomes wholly an object to him, enjambment used in order to show that the speaker is acting impulsively upon his feelings. he strangles her as it means they stay together forever mentally as he never has to see her with anyone else. the fact her hair becomes a noose demonstrates how she is punished by her own beauty. he uses this to justify his actions.
  • 'rosy little head' 'burning kiss' - hes happy over the fact that shes dead as he feels they now get to experience one final intimate night together. use of word burn portrays permanent destruction. now she's dead her worries are over and replaced by his love.
