  • Phases of the Moon:
    Day 1 - New moon
    Days 2 to 6 - Waxing crescent - Increasing in size, the moon appears as a crescent.
    Day 7 - First quarter - Half of the moon is lit.
    Days 8 to 13 - Waxing gibbous - Larger than a semicircle, smaller than a full circle.
    Day 14 - Full moon - We see all of the moon.
    Days 15 to 20 - Waning gibbous - Decreasing in size.
    Day 21 - Third quarter - Half of the moon is lit.
    Days 22 to 26 - Waning crescent - Decreasing in size.
    Day 28 - New moon. Cycle repeats on Day 1.
  • Lunar Eclipse - all of the moon is blocked from sunlight by Earth.
    Solar Eclipse - the moon blocks the Sun from reflecting light onto a section of Earth.
