  • The Pituitary is called the master gland because it releases many hormones that control the release of hormones by other glands
• • The hypothalamus is like a thermostat and monitors homeostasis in the body (values like water, calcium, and blood pressure levels) through feedback mechanisms
  • When a hormone is needed, the hypothalamus tells the Pituitary to release stimulating hormones, which are carried to the target organ and cells through the blood
• • The relationship between the Pituitary Gland and hypothalamus ensure that there is central control of homeostasis!
