  • Word Processor- An electronic device or computer software application that performs the task of composing, editing, formatting, and printing of documents

  • Microsoft word is a word processor developed by Microsoft, first released on October 25, 1983. Also known as MS Word.

    • Customizable toolbar allows you to add frequently used commands
  • Menu/ tab bar is The ribbon is broken down into 7 tabs. Each tab has a common purpose and consists of several groups.

    • Handles the files by using various commands like Info, New, Open, Save, Save as, Print, Share, Export, Account, Share, Options, and Close

    • The strip of buttons and icons located above the work area in Word 2007. Replaces the menus and toolbars found in earlier versions of Word.

    • AutoFormat - applies formatting to text, e.g. number listing, bullet, hyperlinks
    • Grammar Checker - proofreads documents for grammar, writing style, sentence structure errors and reading statistics
    • Template - a document that contains the formatting necessary for a specific document type
    • Thesaurus - provides synonyms for a word in a document
    • Mail Merge - a feature that allows you to create a document and merge them with another document or data file
    • Tables - organize information into rows and columns
    • Text Wrap - adjust how image behaves around other objects or text

    • Ctrl + A = Select All

  • Word processor, though a common tool in the workplace , can be quite tricky at times especially if you are typing a letter or making simple invitations. By doing so, the amount of features that we utilize, particularly in Microsoft word 2010, is only superficial. In fact, even the most common tasks you usually do can be automated further making your work more efficient and effective
