    • photographs show you what a place looks like in a given moment YET photographs taken at different times of day can make a place feel different and can be altered
    • films and tv evoke sense of place which is dependant on nature of story e.g difference between crime drama or romance drama
    • paintings and sculptures are less reliable as they're artists interpretations but can be more effective at conveying sense of place and character
  • evaluation of stories , articles and poems
    • only offer perspective of author - not full picture
    • newspapers can give detail about places but may be biased , focus on stories that sell copies
    • stories , music and poetry - emotional impression of place but only from author
