  • Stewardship isshowing care for the environment/planet and following the green rule (‘do unto the Earth as you would have it done unto you ; Christian)The creation story in Genesis tells us to care for God’s creation.
  • Christianity encourages care for the earth through its teachings, particularly as reflected in psalm 24 in the old Testament of the Bible. Which states the earth is the Lord and everything in it, the world and all who live in it. This verse portrays the belief that the Earth and all its contents belong to God. God positioned us as stewards rather than owners. This implies a responsibility to care for and protect the environment, honouring God’s creation. By recognising the sacredness of the Earth Christians are called to engage in sustainable practices.
  • Jesus referring to himself As the good Shepherd who cares for a sheep in John is a metaphor that it urges us as humans/stewards to take care of the Earth as it’s a key part of God’s creation. This metaphor describes the interconnectedness of living things as well.
