Subdecks (6)

Cards (38)

    • Periodic table lists all of the elements known in order of increasing atomic number - into vertical columns called groups and horizontal rows called periods.
  • Arrangement of periodic table:
    • Elements with similar properties appear in the same group.
    • Metals found to left and centre.
    • Non-mental found to right.
    • Metalloids found in between.
  • Metals and non-metals
  • Metals
    Properties:
    • Shiny
    • Good conductors
    • High melting / boiling points
    • Malleable (easy to shape)
    • High density
    • Strong / solid
    • Sonorous (ring like bell)
    • Ductile (can be drawn out in wire)
  • Non-metals
    Properties:
    • Dull
    • Poor conductors
    • Low melting / boiling points
    • Low density
    • Brittle
  • Metalloids - border of metal and non-metals so can have properties of both.
    • E.G. Silicon - solid, conducts electricity, shiny, low density, brittle.
