Public law remedies which hare available only against public officials and bodies. These include: prohibition, certiorari, mandamus, and habeas corpus.
Prohibition
An order to prevent an agency's asserting a jurisdiction not granted by its enabling statute.
Certiorari
An order to quash a decision made without legal authority or in violation of procedural fairness.
Mandamus
An order to compel an agency to perform a duty it is required to perform.
HabeasCorpus
An order to secure the release of an individual from unlawful custody.
Injunctions
An equitable remedy in which a court orders a party to perform, or refrain from performing, a particular act.
Declarations
Remedies against unconstitutional government actions, or to clarify the meaning of the constitution or a constitutional provision.
