  • APGAR Score

    Apgar is a quick test performed on a baby at 1 and 5 minutes after birth.
    The 1-minute score determines how well the baby tolerated the birthing process.
    The 5-minute score tells the health care provider how well the baby is doing outside the mother's womb.
  • APGAR Score - Each sign is given a score out of 2, making the total 10, most healthy babies score 9 or 10
  • Vernix
    • White, waxy substance
    • Natural moisturer and protects the baby’s skin.
  • Lanugo
    • Fine hair
    • Starts covering baby’s skin at 22 weeks
    • Helps keep the body the right temperature in the womb
    • Normally disappears before birth but sometimes the baby is born with it.
