    • carbohydrates are for energy and building cells and tissues
    • lipids are for long store energy, insulation and protecting organs
    • protein is used for growth and repair damaged tissues
    • vitamin a is used for good vision and to have healthy hair and skin
    • vitamin c is used to prevent scurvy
    • vitamin d is used to help you absorb calcium
    • calcium is needed for strong bones
    • if you don't have enough calcium you can get rickets which is the deformation of bones
    • iron is a component of haemoglobin, which is a protein that carries oxygen in the blood. if you don’t gave enough of it you can get anemia which means you cant transport as much oxygen to your tissues
    • fibre is a carbohydrate that is not digested by the body and used to move food through our intestines properly which stops us from getting diarrhoea and constipation
    • water is used for chemical reactions and to replace the water we are constantly losing by breathing, sweating and urinating
